Six questions, taken straight from the checklists in our guides. The answer is a starting point for your first supplier calls, not a design decision. Nothing you pick leaves this page.

1. How repetitive is the floor plan?

From our guide: “More repetition favors volumetric.”

2. How far is the nearest suitable plant from the site?

Panels ship more easily than boxes, which makes them “a good match for sites far from the plant.”

3. Can a crane reach every module location on your site?

Volumetric boxes are set by crane, so this one can rule it out.

4. How much do you want to finish and adjust details on site?

Panels leave more work, and more control, on site.

5. Are you mainly trying to improve a site-built process you already run, without changing how the project is delivered?

From our guide: “look at components first.”

6. What are you building?

Some building types have their own guide.

How this works: each answer adds weight to one method, following the rules in volumetric vs panelized vs kit-of-parts. The closing rule of that guide applies to every result: “Then test the choice by asking two or three suppliers to price it.”
